🚸 SCHOOL ZONE SAFETY – OPERATION SAFE START 🚸

As students head back to school, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office is reminding everyone to slow down, stay alert, and help keep our children safe.

During Operation Safe Start, deputies will be increasing their presence around school zones and watching for unsafe driving behaviors, including speeding, distracted driving, and failure to follow school-zone traffic laws.

Please remember:

• Slow down and obey posted school-zone speed limits.
• Stay alert for children walking and riding bicycles.
• Put your phone down while driving.
• Stop for school buses when required.
• Allow extra time for increased traffic around schools.

🛡️ SCAM AWARENESS FOR SENIOR CITIZENS 🛡️

Scammers continue to target senior citizens through phone calls, emails, text messages, and even in-person contacts. Remember: If someone pressures you to act immediately or demands payment, stop and verify before taking action.

🚩 Be cautious of anyone claiming to be from law enforcement, a government agency, your bank, or a utility company who demands immediate payment.

🚩 Never provide your Social Security number, banking information, passwords, or verification codes to an unexpected caller.

🚩 Do not send money through gift cards, wire transfers, cryptocurrency, or other unusual payment methods because someone tells you that you must.

🚩 When in doubt, hang up and contact the organization directly using a trusted phone number.

Remember: Stop. Think. Verify. If something doesn’t feel right, talk to a trusted family member, friend, or law enforcement before sending money or personal information.

Together, we can help keep our children, families, and seniors safe.
Stay alert. Stay informed. Stay safe!
